About the Painting

Graceful in form, “永 (yǒng),” meaning “eternity,” flows with quiet strength. At its heart, lies the character “水 (shuǐ),” the character for water—a symbol of life, movement, and divine nourishment.

With bold, rounded brushstrokes, the artist Tam evokes the movement of flowing streams from the central vertical stroke—continuous and life-giving, reflecting the eternal life Jesus promises.

Above it all sits a single dot: the first and preeminent stroke. Subtle yet powerful, it mirrors the divine touch from above—a mark that transforms “水(water)” into “永 (eternity).” This dot invites reflection: What if it is God’s presence—placed first—that turns the ordinary into the extraordinary?

This transformation invites contemplation– will we, like the Samaritan woman, recognize His divinity? Have we tasted the Living Water that quenches all thirst?

While each piece in The Eternity Collection reflects a facet of heaven’s promise, the anchor piece “永” offers the lens through which all others are seen—eternity not as a distant promise, but a present invitation and reality.

“But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:14)
