About the Painting
Overflow “餘”, meaning abundance or surplus, is often associated with wealth or excess. But the artist Tam invites a richer meditation—that true overflow flows not from striving, but from abiding in Christ.
On the left, “食” meaning “food,” symbolizes nourishment, reminding us of God’s care in the ordinary manna that sustains us day after day. On the right, “余” houses “人 (person)” over “禾 (grain),” evoking the image of one who has enough.
Together, “餘”—with its bold, continuous brushstrokes—speaks a profound story of someone fed, sustained and nourished by the daily faithfulness of God to provide. The world tells us to strive. But “餘” reminds us to rest in Him. While the world hustles for abundance, “餘” reminds us of our inheritance in Christ.
Tam invites us to contemplate that overflow is not measured in possessions, but in peace, purpose, and His presence.
May this piece remind you: In Christ, you are treasured. You are nourished. You are loved beyond measure.
