爱 (Ai) | Love

“AI (爱),” meaning “love,” represents the very nature of God. Many of us struggle to surrender our lives to God in the name of protecting our loved ones from the harsh realities of obedience. Tam struggled with the fear of losing her husband to illness in the mission field and disrupting her children’s lives. But God used a series of divinely orchestrated encounters to assure the artist of His love for her family (Psalm 86:15).

While the intricacies of the strokes reflect the nuanced complexity of love, the centrality of the character “心,” meaning “heart,” anchors the character in stability. Tam invites viewers to consider that we can rest securely in God’s love and lay down our all to Him in radical surrender.

“But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.” (Psalm 86:15)
